Drought-tolerant landscaping

For years our rental property yard has been a neglected weedy eyesore. Trying to maintain it along with our own home yard, as we aged was becoming more and more difficult. The insurance company’s non-renewal notice at the property for overhanging trees was the final straw. After tree removal, we started our search for landscape designers with the criteria: low maintenance, drought tolerance and fire resistance. Using Yelp we found Oakplant Landscaping with highly favorable reviews. It was a great pleasure working with the Oakplant team. Very professional, knowledgeable, hardworking and sensitive to any client questions or concerns. Project scope incorporated existing shrubs and trees, a new patio and entry walkway, a fuel-free gravel pathway around the house, native plants, and a drip irrigation system. Owner Felipe Alves provided diagrams that showed the new hardscaped areas, irrigation system and plantings. He guided our selection of pavers, stepping stones and gravel for the hardscape. Felipe helped us to further refine these areas with suggestions for edging, borders and stair installation that really gave it a finished look. Ivy Alves prepared a planting plan and detailed plant list that included our requested plants and more. She is an expert and we spent a lovely morning with Ivy and Felipe at the nursery looking at the proposed plants; their care, attributes and placement. Walking through the nursery with Ivy was like taking a Master Gardener’s tour. We are very happy with the final outcome. Oakplant Landscaping transformed the yard into a beautiful asset that will continue to improve over time as the plants mature. They also completed the project under budget and ahead of schedule. We highly recommend Oakplant Landscaping and look forward to working with them again at our personal residence.
